I also learned that the aftermarket fuel filter lids that come on the filters are weak as hell and wont hold 60psi. They flex and pop the oring out and fuel geysers out. Lol. Ordered a billet filter lid from riffraff so that wont be a problem anymore.
So you can use the OEM housing and filter, just "should" buy a new lid/top for the housing?

I wonder what one of those inline regulators will regulate the pressure to. Good luck !
Its the same regulator as they usenin the "regulated return " conversion kits for any 7.3 powerstroke. This particular one will regulate from 0-140psi..

Right now, i have a ball valve plumbed into the return lines to prove what i want to do could be done. I can have 0psi to whatever the pump will dead head at.

Could totally use the ball valve but it doesn't regulate properly while running because the aftermarket regulator is set with a diaphragm and spring pressure that keeps pressure constantly at the desired set pressure.

Ball valves dont move so it drops close to 15psi wot.

Should hold a more steady pressure with a 2-4psi variance wot with the aftermarket regulator.

62psi is optimum pressure for a 7.3 injector.

You can literally hear the engine change tone when cracking the ball valve open more and more up to 65psi then after that no change and thats when i found the geyser issue on the aftermarket fuel filter cap. Lol

Do you guys want pictures of what i did or do?

Disclaimer, this is a bone stock truck.. not sure how well it will work on bigger injectors.

It basically is turning into the exact setup.i had on whitey. That had 170/100s and track times put it at 450-460hp with zero pressure drop.
So you can use the OEM housing and filter, just "should" buy a new lid/top for the housing?
I mean, i dont know why not. Im still kinda confused as to what is different between the obs oem filter and superduty oem filter because i still used the factory filters and fuel bowl on whitey with zero leaks around the cap. Lol

Maybe because this doesn't have the oem cap and has the aftermarket filter that comes with the cap attached???? I honestly think that is where the issue is. Im guessing that the factory cap is way stiffer to allow the clamping force.

But, at the same time, this billet cap has a nut on it that wont strip out or give the young lady any issues when needing to change filters.

I don't know a lot about this/I only know what I know

But the kit I use (as mentioned before) uses a machined block that incorporates the stock return pressure spring from the stock pump.

I'm pretty sure you can buy this separately

Or even make one
If you know a Machinist.

It doesn't seem all that complicated

I've seen them offered from Marty's fuel injection kit
And also the one I use from Mark fuga

I'm sure this will be a crappy picture but here goes...

I tested mine without the truck running the other day just to check for leaks.

And it was holding about 65 psi.
And that's the stock Ford regulated return spring

Personally, of all the conversions I've seen, the fugazzotto is my favorite. Works well too. Put his whole kit on my 94.

What brand pump did you get?

I think he used various pumps over the years.

Would've been whatever he was supplying back in 2015. I'm thinking was supposed to be Genuine Bosch.

Is that a mechanical gauge running inside the cab??

I'd be a little worried about that.
Unless I was using a stainless steel braided line with the proper fittings.

The last thing you want is a fuel leak inside the cab.

I keep my gauge under the hood for that reason.

Glycerin filled with braided line.

Am I not mistaken that the obs filter housings couldn't handle the pressure a super duty housing could handle, and ended up cracking from the pressure of e fuel?

Where did you end up sourcing the fitting to reuse the factory Y line??

After reading through the thread I’ve come to the conclusion we’re a bunch of Jerry rigging cheap asses LOL. Kidding. Keep it coming, all great work.
