Since I have the engine out and the oil pan off

Should I replace the rear main seal?

Just because I’m in there? Don’t see any leaking but it is 26 years old

Not sure who told you guys not to touch the rear main, but I put one in every time I have a motor out or every time I have a transmission out. Probably install five or six a month and they never leak. I would definitely replace that seal, I see old seals start leaking pretty regularly. If they are leaking after you install new ones, your installing them wrong, plain and simple.

You gotta do it just right. I put the wear sleeve.

I install them with a wear sleeve also, takes all of a minute and its a peace of mind. Saying they never leak unless you touch them or that it WILL leak if you replace it, is the most ignorant thing I've seen on the internet this week. Impressively stupid.

Nothing personal with the finger
That goes out to the world in general

I’m greasy dirty hungry and horny.

Just happy I got something accomplished today.

You could rhino cover the new oil pan

Thats a good idea

about the oil pan installation,

this is a brand new Ford pan, I assume you apply the silicone over the painted surface? where it seals up against the block..

and, whats the best silicone remover? Ford recommends their ZC-30 remover

and ZC-31 metal prep.

can't find it online.... haven't checked the dealer yet

Make sure the oil dipstick to pan adapter is done right or get another different/better adapter.

Yeah I was wondering about that because I’m not crazy about the stock design.

Is there a better aftermarket dipstick adapter available?

What would you suggest.
