I plan on cutting the cross member and welding it back in, so I should only need a few hours. If I need to leave it over night I will but didn't know for sure
I hear of people doing this far too often. You are cutting out a very structural piece of the frame.

Doesn't take that long to pull the engine.

You can have a obd out in about 2 hours... Seems a lot easier than bracing, cutting, crawling around on the ground hoping it comes out right, and then welding back together....

Leave turbo on, pull pressure plate off if manual, pull it out a little, throw a cable/come along around crank pulley and tip the front of motor up and just yank it out

I'm not following you. Do I leave the trans bolted to the motor or what?

You unbolt the transmission to remove the engine. But when you unbolt the engine the front of the transmission is no longed supported, so you need either HD straps to hold it up, or jack it up from underneath. As far as the TC, it can come off if it's not held on, what many do is get a piece of bar stock and put it across the TC and bolt it to the transmission case to hold it in place.

Thanks lol.

I use the strap if I am going to have to move the truck at all after motor is out, if the trucks gonna sit, a jack is better

Also, I think I may have taken the oring out for the dipstick nut, and put a bead of RTV there, and on the inside where the nut seals up. You can never have too much. LOL That seemed alot better than a flimsy oring.

Ok, cool. LOL. thanks for clearing that up for me I was scratching my head there for a bit. I should convince him to get a round downpipe and I will just do that while I am already in there, but if he actually does is very doubtful.

For the price, I think its ridiculous. A tube of grey death is 22ish. And that would seal 2 oil pans.

But hey why not quadruple the cost of the job :D

In all seriousness, Id like that adapter that Strictly came up with. But I just couldnt bring myself to.spend $300.

One of those two piece oil pans that I saw a while back sounded pretty interesting. However, if my oil pan was leaking, I would want to pull the motor out anyway, it's the only way you can really clean things up.

Any more info on a two piece pan?

I really don't want to pull the motor or cut the crossmember!
