One of our trucks had bent a rod and made a sound like that until it grinded down enough to stop making the noise

you shut your whorish mouf...

wouldn't a bent rod show some signs of lower compression? there are no misses or dead spots at all. smooth all the way up through the RPM's.

the way it sounded with the stethoscope...we're pretty sure its in the top end but just have no idea what it is yet. we're going to pull the cover sometime in the next week or so and take a look.

Pulled this from about 7 or 8 grooves in my oil filter... all magnetic.

I don't know...I assume there should be NO metal flakes at all in the filter right? the plug on the oil pan was pretty clean.

then again, i only drove the truck 1 day since the noise showed up so maybe not enough time for more material? plus if Corsilli was right and it just rubbed a spot on the block does that mean that it would stop throwing flakes?

Hell you could always throw a fresh filter and oil in it and see if it's still producing metal. Just a thought

I'd stop driving it ASAP tear it down and find the issue before more damage is done to it. Sucks to see it happen but you gotta pay to play.

I realized around midnight last night that I did drill the oil pan on the truck for the lp drain back when we put the turbos on so there is a good chance that is debris from that. I poured some fresh oil down the drain and out the bottom to flush the all the material I could but this could be residual since this is the first oil change since the swap (I think).

It's sitting outside purring like a kitten right now. Waiting to see if the noise returns when up at op temp

why are you not inside watching this game and getting an ulcer?

and btw there is a big ridge in the can for the threads that would keep the savings from running out.

Lance you know I love you but you have to be the most stubborn guy I've ever met lol. Stop messing around and get a oil analysis done already. That will tell you what debri is in the oil and give a much better idea where it's coming from.

Debri from a low pressure oil drain tapping should have been minimal unless you went balls out with a uncoated drill but and slung **** inside and out of the pan. IMO, what material you have found is far too much to be anything from that.

How am I being stubborn? And we had a coated bit for sure.

i dont see how temperature would effect a bent rod.

Dunno...must not be rod. Has to be something oil related ya?
