Yeah the rcsb will be quick but stripped down, it's going to still tip the scales around 7000lbs

surely a stripped RCSB 4x2 is less than that isn't it?? I think a Shorty and 4x2 you could flirt with 6000lbs if you really tried. Depends on how far you wanna push it/who you're trying to beat I guess.

Below is from one of Dustin's posts in the Drag Racing section...

2008 Reg cab long bed 4x4, no start weight it was wrecked when i got it
7100 lbs roll pan, no hitch no spare, full interior plus a 6point roll bar big compound turbos atmo turbo weighs 130 lbs on its own. Looking to cut it down to 6500 hopefully soon

I was meaning a 4x4 that's stripped but not as far as a track only truck. A track only truck 4x4 you might be able to strip it down to low 6k and I guess a 2wd a little less. The OP is talking about driving it around town so I wouldn't think he'd be stripping it down to far.

Even at 7000lbs it would be a low 12 second vehicle. And once my truck was cut down it was only 6780lbs and that was with heavy 33x13.5 MTZ's on it.

Very possible. My truck ran a 12.6x and it's a cc/sb with only a tune, but it's a 4x4. I just haven't seen what a 6.4 2wd rc with only a tune and normal mods run

Regular cab, 2wd, IDP race, and the normal extras...would I be able to keep up with the sports cars?

A real or even decent sports car....NO

Biggest advantage in this scenario would be 4wd imo so you could hook and get the jump, which you are missing.

^^^^^ This.

Playing around on the street red light to red light, 4wd is going to be huge. Leaving the light hard is the only real advantage you will have. And it still won't help against anything with real power.

Are all the new sports cars running faster than low 12's now or something?

Remember... someone has to drive those... Leaving in 4x4 HARD will scare a lot of sports car drivers when you start pulling them. Then they hammer it leading to roasting the tires off.

Twinturbostroker.. those cars are no joke, wonder how they compare 1.8th mile, which may be more applicable to "street" racing

Might have a chance in the 1/8, but they would be coming.....the Audi and GTR would still hand you your ass

around here, there is a lot of money, you see all of those cars, but not very often. those are more high end sports car. I think the OP was talking about slower sports cars that are more common, like mustang gt's or camaro's or maybe an audi s4 or bmw m3. these cars are a little more exotic...porsche 911 or Ferrari 360, California, 458 are much more common around me anyways then the list of cars above. there are handful of shelby mustang gt500's running around here once the nice weather is upon us, corvettes are pretty common too, even z06's.

Traction control in all these newer sports cars are pretty spot on. Allowing even an average driver to take off hard without tire spin.

When I had my 6.4CCSB with the 310 tune, I ran several sports cars. All on the street, just playing around. And it's always the same story, truck jumped out real hard 1-3 lengths, the cars always fetched on the big end.

EDIT: my def of "big end", they always caught me by 60-100mph.

CTS V caught me by 60.
02 Maro SS didn't catch till 90-100. Driver error on his part. Spinnin ain't winnin.

I don't know about your area but I rarely see any of those vehicles on the street around here, especially new ones. Just Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, etc...

You got the same as me. And also the far and odd chance of one of them balls out running you off a light is slim to none. You'll get lucky and catch a SRT or a -06-09 GT500 that will rock but the SRT isn't getting the jump off the light because of T/C my 8700lb ranch hand front and rear full weight with 4.10's had my buddy all the way through 3rd in his car. But a Reg cab 4x4 6.4 will dessimate on the street off a red light. Only the nicer newer cars have good traction control. And in my experiences those guys rarely touch 4k rpm's it seems like. But there's too many old ***kers down here.

Reg cab 4x4 6.4 with a tune will move on the street between lights. I just don't see a 2wd with a tune doing the same without some suspension work

I had a 2wd ccsb lariat and it would roll out but you had to be goin 25-30 otherwise it would spin like no other I can imagine a Reg cab being way worse. Those 6.4's love their torque. That's for sure you can only go 1/2 throttle off line and then mat it once you were moving.
