Thats funny because thats why I bought them. They kick immeasurable amounts of ass in the snow. Seriously. You can actually use the brakes. I have baja claws in the garage with half the tread left but took them off because braking sucked.

What did you have baja atzs on? What size?
like I mentioned before. I have been around every type of tire in my trade on our work trucks. mostly have a size bigger then stock tires on them.

Wonder what millage will be with them on a full-size? Yeah they look really funny in that pic compared to in person

I talked to the driver and he said at the mileage he was at he was 3/32 ahead of where the old atz would have been in wear. He was getting 60k out of them running big roads with the campers in tow.

Ill get at LEAST 45k. But probably closer to 55k.

I have been through every type of tire myself except for the duratrac and I do want to try them but there is nothing for me to try them on. Last I checked they dont make anything big enough for my superduty. Getting into tires outside the stock realm is a huge game changer too.

The atz in a 265 and a 33x12.5 arent the same tire or the same capability. Most tires treaf becomes different around the 12"+ mark. That may be where our difference in opinion lie.

I just remember the horror stories of running goodyears up until about 5 years ago. They were THE worst tires in any model.

They make pretty big duratracs. I looked them up a while ago for someone. What size do you run?

I've got both ATZ's and Duratracs. ATZ is in my opinion an excellent tire. Wears good, quiet, and good traction even in the winter. The Duratracs I have only ran in the winter as they are studded. Winter traction is phenomenal. I can go places in 2wd that were giving me trouble in 4wd on the stock continentals. I don't think the Duratracs will last like the ATZs have but that is only a guess. I have had a few issues with the ATZs that would make me hesitant to buy them again though. I noticed a nail in one and took it off to get plugged. It wasn't low or anything though. When they took it off the rim the inside liner was all flaked up and the tire place wouldn't patch it. It was never run low on pressure, never towed with, or loaded anywhere near heavy. It was on a V10 truck so it didn't have to handle a lot of power. I put a plug in it and it's still on there. Phoned Mickey Thompson and they said they couldn't warranty it because it had been repaired and possibly run while low. I couldn't prove otherwise. This week I noticed one flat, (the truck is not used currently), so I took it off and checked it. It has a crack in the sidewall and was leaking bad. Weird spot to run over something.

I don't know what caused it. Don 't think it's the same tire as before.

Not rushing to mickey thompson' defense but sitting long periods on the tires is hard on them. It wasnt thaaaat long ago that any truck with oversized tires would get flatspots after sitting for more than two days.

That is an odd spot to collect something!

I havent been impressed with tires for a long time but these atz are the shiz.

I know, but makes me wonder you know? It wasn't sitting when the first incident happened, it was used everyday. My wife bought a Taurus this winter so the truck has mostly sat since. She did take it on a couple hour run on Saturday to my parents cabin and back, so if was road damage, it happened then.

Hmmm. I always seem to tear shti up in snow. Last year I got a small machine bolt in the front pass side brake. It felt tlike the rotor got wet. So I kept on. Then it got loud. Could smell it. Trashed the whole front corner. Brakes, bearing etc.

why would you guys post this and then not say what or why?

Easy!!!!! I just got back to this. Honestly it's impossible to say one tire is "the best" depends on what you do. I still really like Bfg at's they just don't come in sizes I like. But they are IMO the all time ultimate utilitarian tire.

I was very impressed with the toyo mt's I've had and been around. Had great luck with terra grapplers.

Do not like nitto trail grapplers. Or any other nitto. But the Terra's are a very good tire, just a little less aggressive. Which fits my needs better as much as I tow and how heavy I tow. The new baja atz's are a better looking tire. But I was never impressed with them in the winter (compared the Bfg at's and terra grapplers) and they a LOUD once they get some substantial wear to them. There are no mt tires that will last like I want with how I use them.

Sooo, to answer your question. IMO. The duratracs are good. Probably just as good as toyo mts. Maybe better, idk. But not the best for everything. As for me an all terrain is a much more versatile tire.

that was my point. there is always one tire thats best in certain situations but what I was getting at is that if there was only one tire to be had, the duratracs have the highest average of being good in all situations. and I do believe duratracs are a all terrain rated tire...

Looks like you really cant go wrong with any of the A/T style tires mentioned as long as you do the usual stuff to maintain them. I guess it just depends on whether you drive off road a lot. I do very little of this and mostly just drive the truck to work. I do want to get a tire that will hold up to heavier towing as we may be getting/borrowing a 5'er camper in the future and I plan on towing my tractor more in the future. I decided to go with the Toyo's since my buddy can get them significantly cheaper than anywhere else.

?? As a tire I havent ran?

Yessir. But they arent unlike many other tires. Many of these Jap name tires have similar tread patterns. Very similar. I have never considered the toyo at2 simply because a tire like that, ive already got what appear to be BETTER options. The michelin ltx a/t that comes stock on the silverado hd's are incredible. My truck tows 50k+ miles per year. The truck, unhooked from the trailer with all my crap in it is approaching 10klbs. Then throw 10-14k lbs of trailer on there and the tires are being tested.

Cooper zeons were great for my dad and if I had the opportunity id run them on a truck used as mine is. Something ran on interstates towing and on pavement mostly. My dad said after half wear they stink in dirt or mud. But they arent really made for that to begin with.

I knew that is what you were talking about, just having a little fun.

I thought about the ltx's due to the outstanding reviews they got for a dedicated towing tire but don't like the look as much as the Toyos in that style tire. Not going to be towing THAT much either.

Yea, man. Whatever floats your boat. I just hate buying tires and finding out they suck when you go to use them. I put some goodyear wranglers on my lbz when the stockers wore out. It felt funny when I picked it up. Spongy. 5hen I put the trailer on it and it was horrible. Felt like when you are losing a rear tire on the tow rig.

Why the hate on the trail grapplers? I've taken them on some nasty forest road in az for deer scouting.. they've gone over downed trees with sharp points, sharp rocks, and everything in between. I was impressed with them on this last trip. The guys I was with were even shocked. I've been pretty happy with them.

They drive like sh*t on the road. I HATE tires that feel like driving on a marshmallow.
