Well i would agree but at the end of the day, i am not a salesman and dont care what tight wads want. I look at it this way, no one should have to do all of my r&d for me. I am more than grateful for the posts of peoples' experiences with various upgrades/mods and when it is all said and done, I look at what the majority of the posts say about something working to determine, whether or not I want to invest my resources to research it further and see what it does for my truck.

IMO it is unrealistic to expect everyone to go spend their money buying some part, spending more of their money doing before and after dynos/track runs, and then out of the goodness of their heart post the results, especially with all of the different configurations of setups out there. JMO FWIW.

I agree, the consumer should not have to purchase a part and test the gains. I would think that the producer would have before and after of THEIR product. many have an in house dyno, why not just do a before and after on a customers truck one day? Statistics sell products.

anyone know when Erics remote tuning is supposed to come out? I had to get a php flash from swamps since Eric told Dave he wasn't tuning them currently bc remote tuning is priority.

Talked to ID today, they are not doing ficm tunes at this current time ad are not sure when they will resume. A lope tune was just finished and that was Erics priority, he has a few more things on the table and than back on the remote tuning project.

Didnt Matt do 470hp with his SRL+ and a php FICM?
Pretty sure I saw a dyno sheet somewhere.

That was a standard trans truck so take 5% off of that. The ficm tune is good for 10-15 HP if you have a neutered FICM strategy.

Tuned ficms have been said to make cold starts a issue if you have injector issues. I too would like to see before and after results. The talk of huge mpg gains and hp are selling points do some r&d and show some numbers. I'd prefer 2-3 trucks since that would prove consistency. But heck 1 truck would be something. Guys still claim 3+mpg from a tuner and we know that is bs. Hp yes but at the gain of maybe 1mpg in the two different trucks I've had.

There is the reason why most of these tuners (SCT) wont give most users a big mileage increase, the injection timing in the FICM tuning isn't operating to its potential... Hence why when tuned trucks later then tune the ficm see such an increase in mileage and the power they should have from the tunes.

People see 500 or less with a powermax because its not much more than a stock turbo... I love seeing people buy powermax turbos thinking theyre going to lay out 550+ with 190's.... and then not be impressed after they ignore my suggestion.... live and learn i guess:axe:

I was getting around 16 mpg last fall until my ficm went out and then after it was replaced at the dealer I am now getting around 13 mpg average. I think I had the old ficm strategy and then now I have the new one so maybe I would be one of the guys to see the 3mpg increase (hoping and praying at least). Whenever my truck gets a little closer to running out of warranty Im going to get a tuned ficm and I will post results.

Some of the best info here so far.

You can't really compare two pulls that were made several weeks apart. There's too many variables (ambient temps, humidity, how the dyno was calibrated, etc). It's like drag racing: if a truck runs a 10.9, they have to back it up shortly afterwards. They can't run a 10.9 a week later and say it was backed up.

40 hp on a FICM tune isn't gonna happen. All the "I heard" and "somebody said" has yet to be proven with back to back dyno runs. Or at least I have never seen it posted anywhere.

170 hp over stock with a dyno tune is pretty accurate. Most stock 6.0's put down about 250 rwhp and its not uncommon to see tuned numbers in the 415-430 rwhp range. At one point in time, my 6.0 dyno'd 426 with just a tune.

A tuned ficm did nothing on my '04. However on my '05 dually it was a noticeable difference. I know Garrett's truck ran good when it had just a ficm tune also.

.

Theres a reason it did nothing much to your 04. Yours probably had the original flash before they put the stupid restrictions in the programming.

I'll see if I still have the sheet. But the tuned FICM showed a 27hp increase on my 06.
