i would also try a dyno run with just a 58v FICM without the FICM tuning...just to see how much hp the increase in voltage does....then dyno one with a 58v/tuned FICM.

I know some of the older (03 era) 7 pin FICM's I've repaired and tested on my truck the strategy was night and day difference. Injectors buzz insanely fast when the key is first turned (nothing like the stock, up to date 06 FICM I had on here), and when it fires, it idles super quiet, and VERY smooth. Drivability was greatly improved. Never really kept one on there long enough for MPG testing... been trying to scoop up all the older one's I can.

I've got the new strategy with the slow injector buzz. I'm hoping the FICM tuning will do something for me.

Ok, so what do you guys want to see from the dyno?
I was thinking about hitting our dyno for some testing of my own, here's what I'm thinking. All done in one session, same day.
1) Stock tune, stock FICM. (baseline)
2) Stock tune, tuned FICM.
3) Stock tune, 58v/tuned FICM.
4) HP tune, stock FICM.
5) HP tune, 58v/tuned FICM.

Truck is '05, auto, 4" exhaust, EGR delete.
I have extra FICM I was going to send in for 58v/tuning.
I need another FICM with just tuning done to it. I have no problem buying a spare from someone just to have anyway, anybody have a deal on one? I'll get tuning done.

I need hp tunes. Was looking at Vivian, maybe ID or Gearhead too. Any tuners want to help out a little with this?

Let me know your thoughts.

This would be very, very educational. If you have an opportunity to pull it off, I'd be very interested in the results.

Sorry forgot to ask when do you think you will do the runs??

No idea. I need to get everything in line first, find extra FICM, get mods, tunes etc.

i would also try a dyno run with just a 58v FICM without the FICM tuning...just to see how much hp the increase in voltage does....then dyno one with a 58v/tuned FICM.

Sorry, I won't invest in a 4th FICM. My 58v will be tuned.
To me if you're going to go with a 58v FICM, then you're going to go with the good tuning, too.

I guess I could add a 6th run: hp tune & tuned FICM, if ya'll think it's important to know.

I will probably have some dyno comparisons done in the spring of a stock 48V vs. a 58V no tune on either, and maybe a tuned 48V.

FICM tuning does help make more power and increase mileage. There's an obvious reason, a tuned 6.0L with the later Ford flashes will make less power than the same tuning calibration on an early flash. The difference is the FICM tuning. The FICM tuning was softened through the years and power is down. You'd be amazed the difference between a bone stock early flash and later flash truck. The PCM/TCM tuning is identical.

A custom FICM tune enhances power, throttle response, mileage, and drivability. If you have an early flash 03-04, it won't be as noticable. On any year 05+ truck, it's noticable and even moreso if you have the later flash(which 99% of people do).

We do custom FICM tuning only on trucks and the difference is similar to a mild tow tune. Add a good PCM/TCM program and the power gain is amazing. Once you add a custom tune that will utilize the FICM changes, especially on heavily modded trucks, it's very evident.

On the average truck, you'll see a 15-25rwhp gain in power over tuning alone. There's customer data on the forums with posted dyno results, I'd have to search for them though.

Our remote tuner is in final testing now, we have them at the shop finalizing the firmware on the various year trucks. It'll be within a week or two and we'll start shipping them.

Thanks!

After running the PHP ficm, Innovative moderate and race, and now KEM ficm, I can say I am very happy with the extra money spent on the KEM. VERY peppy, snappy throttle, low end power is there more than I need. We will see how mileage does over the next week and I can post up.

All in all, Erics race ficm was great, KEM has a bit more. For the everyday guy Erics would be ok, if you have big sticks you will be very happy with mikes.

So from what I gather I shouldn't get the new ficm flash from ford? I still have the original 05 ficm flash and it has bad stiction on cold starts.

So how big are your sticks?
