What temps are you seeing running twin oil pumps?
What degree thermostat are you running?
I'm running the thermostat that came with the dieselsite water pump with filter.
It's the 205 deg and I need to change it back to a lower temp.
Seeing 230-235 solid oil temps after 30-40 min of driving.
New oil cooler.
Before the twin pumps, had the 203 deg thermostat from dieselsite and was seeing 210 deg oil temps.
Just curious to see others findings.

could it be the restrictive return path?
can that be drilled out?

I don't see it necessary to drill the front cover as many have had twin pumps without issue.
I have run these for a while and I am not having problems, but I remember a few years back reading somewhere, that twin HPOPs increased oil temp significantly.
Using the dieselsite spacer to feed the rear pump and have a secondary resivor feed as well shown in the second pic.
Sorry no up close pic of the secondary feed to the resivor.

Disregard the tty headbolts as it was for mockup before studding.
I'm really wondering what temp thermostat would be best, and what others have seen for oil temps with twin pumps.

OMG!!!! That is the single cleanest engine bay I've ever seen. Nice work. That pic belongs in an art gallery or something.

Not sure that a stat will have much impact to this issue. Is the average temp of the engine oil volume actually that hot or is it a local temp in the res? I know little about twins, but Im thinking about the routing of the oil around the pumps and the location of the sensor. It appears that you are returning worked oil immediately to the res-- is that correct? Wonder what the oil temp is in the pan..

The oil supply to the res is coming from the oil gallery from the side of the block.

I will check with my infared thermometer to see if there is a large difference between the pan temp and res temps tomorrow once i drive it 70 mi to work.

And thanks berman, its a work in progress.

Ok thanks, I learned something--I thought there was a more local supply. If its coming from below, hmm, it may be very similar then.

Curious to see what the IR says now.. Ive never seen that kind of differential.

My 6.7 hits 252 towing up the hills in he summer.

I've hit 240 towing heavy with the 7.3 in the summer.

This is all 105+ degree weather sometimes 112+

Its returning to the front cover where it drains back down to the pan.

Feed for the second pump is coming from the drivers side of HPOP spacer, return to the pass side of the HPOP spacer.

Yes single ipr.

Honestly it would be easy to add an external air to oil cooler in line with my existing reservoir feed.
But I would much rather find out the average increase of oil temp when adding a second oil pump.

Even when I tow heavy, my oil temps NEVER get over 220-222 degrees. And that's down here in the SE heat and humidity and pushing the truck pretty hard.

When I reached 210-220 with a single pump I was either towing heavy or riding it hard for extended periods of time.

Now its 230-235 at 75 cruise.

is there a balance line between the two pumps?
I see the IPR in the DS pump but not a passage from the front pump to a control device in those pics

Yes there is.
Not shown in previous pics.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Hard to see but I had a line made with ample radius to clear all hardware while retaining bend radius within hose specs of operational limits.
Things get real tight when all together.
