Gees. Here I go again starting to worry I am now decreasing the life of the trans due to using fluid not specified. I don't like the anti foam particle talk. Guess I might switch to lv I dunno. It's the little things like this that work me up. Can't believe their isn't a concrete fluid to use on this matter.

I can tell you with the exception of Marks anti foam comments The only way to screw this up is viscosity and anti shudder. The merc v spec takes care of both. And a tes-295 Allison spec covers the base oil and the anti foam. The reason the specs overlap so much is the fluids all do the same thing in all very similar situations. If you are concerned talk to he trans builder and have them make the choice for you.

The trans builder says Merc V. So that Allison spec will cover the mercon V? Mobil has a fully syn version of an Allison approved one.

The Allison spec does not cover Mercon. But there are fluids that will have both specs listed. The Allison TES-295 sepc is a synthetic, for now at least, and a good antifoam. The merc spec will get you your viscosity and anti shudder that you need.

Ahh. Okay. I've seen the other Allison spec 3xx ( I think it was ) but not the 295 with mercon v.

I'll look around. It seems that Valvoline maxlife covers both LV and Mercon V. Thus making its own good argument to use it in our trans, no?

Edit: looks like maxlife atf has the tes-295 'okay'

There you go, probably the closest you will get to our 1150. I wonder what its anti shudder test is.
