I'm going to look what 238/100's are running price wise and maybe I could run them with my turbo and then get some good tunes on it. I'd like to dyno it and see what it's at right now and see what it is after just for the hell of it

So I'd probably be looking at 4 g's after rebuilding and putting injectors in to make 450 horse? That's probably a little more than I'd have in the cummins swap but I'd be making a hell of a lot more power, but the question is, is how reliable would it be?

under 450hp it stays quite reliable. there are many over that hp level that are reliable but that still depends on how its drove... the odds of you making over 400hp on a set of stage 1.5s is slim... 160/100s will get you anywhere from 400-450hp with a good hpop, fuel pump, turbo and inter-cooler. don't know to many obs trucks making over 400hp with stage 2s without a inter-cooler... more specs on your turbo would be nice so we know what exactly it is.. same with transmission..

you can get a complete rebuild kit from riffraff with bowl lip machining for around $1300.00 and that comes with a lot of stuff...

Well I'm not sure exact specifics on the turbo, it's a 66mm with a a built shaft and wheels. I make about 30 pounds with what I think stock sticks. But with the rebuild I'm going to need rods and head studs so there's a lot more money too. The tranny would be considered like a stage three. I mean I've pulled 18k with it a few times and it still acts like the day I got it. Which is about 8 months ago I think. Where should I look for a rebuild kit?

Rods? How do you know the motor is toast? What compression numbers did you.get?

If its gawwwwwn, try to.find a FR motor in a junkyard.first. A.good.compression forged.motor and some 238/80's and run of the mill tuning will.net you 450+.

Done.

what do you need rods for? its an obs right? it will already have forged rods in it.... unless your going above 450hp then no need for head studs yet... i would go with comp 910's for insurance... i didn't do that when i put all my parts together and now its getting rebuilt due to all the valve marks in the pistons along with all the cracks in them.... don't have a clue what a stage 3 trans consists of so list whats been done to that too..

As far as i know it has 300,000 miles and so i dont want to make 450 on a 300,000 mile motor and Well I guess I should have asked, will I need rods and all the for 450 horse? And anyone have a cut and dry dollar of what I'll be at for 450 horse? I was looking around and I know I'll at least be out 1800 for injectors, 400 for tuning and then a 1200 for a basic rebuild kit, does that sound about right?

mileage doesn't matter as long as compression is good!

stage 2s from beans 1695
custom tunes from beans 400ish
comp 910s from beans 82
rebuild kit from riffraff if need be 1300

I'm assuming compression is down due to all the blow by I am seeing, lets just say there's oil sitting in my intake and the y pipe or spyder or whatever it's called is coated in oil too, that's a sign of low compression isn't it? And for the 910's I'm assuming you meant 820? Haha

Does this look right? Am I missing anything? And I'm not buying it now, I'm just getting costs together right now. I added head studs because I'd like to do it while I have it out and just get it done with and that bill is without custom tunes. Let me know if I'm missing anything

without a inter cooler stage 3 injectors are going to hot unless you get them detuned.. if your going to do that then you might as well get 250/200s and keep them detuned so that when you put a intercooler on it you can utilize them more... before you do anything get a compression test done... but yes those are the prices..

Well my turbo isn't a d66, it's a custom 66 that's built pretty heavy so it could probably handle it, and my transmission is built pretty good too

A super d66 is a pretty badass turbo, if thats what your saying you have.

238/100's from beans are like $1200 iirc.

4g's? Wtf? You already have a big turbo and done up trans... injectors are $1200 from beans (238/100). Tuning is $400. Thats in the neighborhood of $1600.

Who should I look for, for rods and head studs? And I'd need aftermarket valve train also right?

Negative across the board. Forged motor= fine.

Agreed 100%

If its not broke, dont fix it as Joe would say. 300k is nothing. You can find injectors for $1200-ish from Rosewoods.

Agreed stage III injectors are going to get toasty, even with the bigger turbo. 230/x push a lot of fuel.

Okay, well I guess first thing on the agenda is compression test. I'll have to look if our tester at work will work for mine. And what do you do to fix the crankcase vent from throwing that much oil out?
