Yes sir... The old suspension was tired.. Since it was lowered a tad I decided to do away with the leaf springs and give her a proper set up... Not doing the front though... I like my trusty coils upfront I would hate to feel what a front blow out would feel like driving down the Rockies with 10-12k on the trailer. Haha. I know air bags are stout but I'm sticking to coils upfront. Haha.. I could be convinced to change my mind though.

Is it 2wd, or have you done an 05 suspension swap on a 4x4?

2wd. Picture taken a few weeks ago during mock up.. Not ride height this is fully compressed... I think with as low as the front is a axle upfront would be nearly bottomed out haha.

That is neat!
You need to do a build thread on that!
How is the Ex spec’d? Year, mods, etc?

Thanks guys... I have a few videos I was going to post on youtube that show a bit of what I did. I will try to set up a thread in a few weeks when it's all done.
Its a 2003 7.3. I haven't done much to it... S&b intake (got it new with 2 filters for 100 couldn't say no haha) banks 4 inch exhaust, billet wheel, can tune at 60hp and trans cooler.. also wired in a manual tc switch ... Not first inline but she pulls the trailer just fine. Battery relocate possible in the next couple months.. Also been looking at Eaton fuller 9 speed with an sae#2 bellhousing I was seeing that some models were put behind a dt444... Also that some had a .79 final gear ratio not far off from our autos. Would be cool to split gears while towing up i70 in the Rockies. The new diesel guys will be like "how the heck??" Haha. But I'm still trying to find one local to take a good look at and measure dimensions. If it wants too far into the dash/firewall I will probably pass.

That Ex looks good lowered.
We’ve got a 4x4, Limited, with a 6.0 in it. Built 04/03. We’re the 2nd owners, have maintenance records that start at 33,000 miles. We bought it with 119,000 and it has 296,000 miles now.

Both of those are some nice rides.. Man Zeb that's pretty cool that you bought it from the original owner. So many rigs now days change owners every couple years.

Nice!
What’re the details on it?

02 ex, started life as 2wd. I swapped in a manual t-case and front axle.
Two inch lift, 33/12.5/20s.
As far as the engine, just a chip, rr fuel, 38r, and 240k on stock injectors. Pretty simple setup for hauling kids around.

Thanks!
It was the first 6.0 I bought. We bought it October 23-2010 when we were expecting our 4th child. It wasn’t going to be possible to fit 6 people in a Jeep Liberty!

Did you do a leaf spring suspension, or 05 style?

We bought our Excursion with 119,000 miles on it. At 115,000 miles they had rebuilt the front end, replaced the egr cooler, and a bunch if other stuff.
At 175,000 miles I had it tuned. At 195,000 miles the ICP sensor started leaking, so while I had the turbo off I switched to an 06 intake, and did an egr ******.
At 225,000 miles I put a FICM in it, and at 232,000 miles solenoids on 2 injectors failed. Built a set of 175/30’s, gutted the banjo bolts, put a blue spring in it, and had Jesse Warren write me a conservative tune for it.
At 259,000 the head gaskets had finally had enough.
Pulled the motor, put in a Straub cam, bumped the injectors up to 205/30’s, did a Marty’s fuel system, Irate T-4, and a 362/68/.83.
Some time shortly after this I put on an ODawg S3R manifold and CNC Fab Stage 2 hpop. Also put in a CSF 6028 intercooler, Hellwig sway bars, Platinum wheels, Nitto 420’s, and Fox shocks.
At 272,000 miles I decided to swap in an RCD Stage 1 cam so pulled the motor again.
Found several cracked rocker arms, exhaust valve marks on a number of pistons, and 0.090” end play on the crank.
Put in a DPC Heavy Duty Triple Disc converter, new bearings, another crank, ARP rod bolts, RCD Stage 1 cam, a fresh set of heads, and swapped the 362 for SXE63/68/.83. One of the heads had the valve recession too shallow (0.003-0.005” under minimum factory spec) and I decided to run it.
Big mistake. At 282,000 when we were 7 hours from home I broke 2 rocker arms.
Pulled the motor again, put in fresh factory rods, new 6.4 rocker arms, new pushrods, new lifters, Colt Stage 2 cam, delipped the pistons, fresh heads, powder coated a bunch of stuff, reworked the fuel system, wrapped the exhaust manifolds, and stuffed it back in.
Recently pulled the injectors and bumped them up to 225/30’s.
At 296,000 miles now and it’s running great!
Next big project is 05 style suspension and front end conversion.

I used obswiz's (used to be vendor on here) setup. Had the option available to go 05 style, but I really didn't want to at the time, for whatever reason. It's a grocerygetter, lol.
I have pulled 12-13k behind though, just cause I could, but mostly it just hauls a$$, and kids. Bought due for a set of injectors now.

Sounds like you've got it dialed in now!

It runs well. LOL
I don’t tow with it very often, but it can.
Towed this back from Albuquerque NM just before New Year 2019. Never took it off the Hot tune. Gross was 17,500 lbs.
