I blow out air filters daily on a small tracked drill rig with 200 cfm at around 120 psi coming out of an inch and quarter hose. Never seemed to hurt the filter and the secondary filter is still as clean as new. This rig operates in such dusty conditions when drilling with air that sometimes you can't even see the rig.

Looks good, I'll be doing this mod, do you hear the turbo a bit more? what part did you cut off of the stock air box?

most people blow them out.. its how we have been doing it with the farm tractors for years and what we do with out heavy equipment here at work.

its really not much louder then stock but you can here it a little.. can hear it bark more then anything.

if you read the op i cut it a band width from the maf sensor right as it bells into the box. have to be careful and will have to grind off the gussets that go from the round tube to the box..

Nice write up. All of our trucks run Donaldson. I'll have to check out Outerwears. Didn't even know they existed. Definitely gonna get some prefilters for my trucks and personal truck

thanks man.. you can email outerwears and they will make one custom for any size filter imaginable... they already have the 2790 and 6637s prefilters available.

Thanks for this writeup man. I did the install today with a NAPA 6637 Filter, I chose this one so I would not have to trim the battery box. My stock filter was beyond dirty, this is a new truck to me with 60k miles on it now.

Im not sure, I bought the truck with 52k on it and never bothered to open the intake box as the meter read 100% green. That was a huge mistake to trust that meter lol.

why the hell wouldn't you check that sort of thing lol? but it could easily been only 5k miles on that filter. i have had them look like that with less thdn 5k on them.

lol I didn't check it cause of stupidity, I want to say its prob longer then 5k because this truck is used only on road and not in a dusty environment.

That filter setup looks great. Don't know if I missed it or not but does the 6637 filter have the same micron rating as OEM & does it have more surface area than OEM ? Take care.

dont know on the micron rating but it has a lot more surface area.
Looks good. Did you have any issues with snow this winter?
i block off the backside of my grill so no snow would get to it that way and the hood is sealed well enough that nothing got to it that way either...
