Trail Grappler vs. Open Country MT

Wow...You guys and tire life scare me....makes me not want to get the Toyo's, but figure my truck is just a freak. I have a little over 60,000 miles on my Nitto MUD Grapplers (and looking for tires now) and my previous BFG KM2's had over 80,000 on them when my buddy that I sold them to traded...

    Thoughts on Sulastic spring shackles?

I had a 2004 Dodge 3500 that had them on it when I bought it. It did ride much better than my Ford, but it's kind of apples to oranges since the Ford is leafs all around and the Dodge had the coils in the front. Never got a before and after either since they were on it when I bought it. I...

    Is the fluidamper worth it?

I'll go against the grain and say I noticed absolutely zero difference when I installed my Fluidamper. I hope that it is good for my truck to have it installed, but I put it on and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't feel or notice a difference. I still have it though and it has been on for...

    Trans lifespan...

My Suncoast went in my truck about 7 years and 130,000 miles ago and so far so good. I was still running stock sticks until a few months and 5k miles ago though. No issues with the transmission, although I'm surprised at the amount of friction material in the pan when I've had it off. It still...

    Comp 910s

Valve lift is just under .400" at the valve from what I was able to find. I set mine @ 1.780" or the next step tighter since my smallest shim was .015". So 1.780 - .400 = 1.380". Coil bind is 1.280 on 910's so that leaves about 0.100" or a bit more. Mine has been driven about 6k miles since the...

    Comp 910s

Hmm...Interesting. I'd say he probably knows a thing or two about a thing or two. I am a bit over that seat pressure on most of mine, but just a bit. Hope they hold out because I'm not redoing them. -Aaron

    Comp 910s

I did shim mine. I set the installed height to 1.780" and if I couldn't get it exact, I went to the next bigger shim. I would rather have them a little higher seat pressure than have contact (Avoiding coil bind of course). Couple thousand miles on them and so far, so good. -Aaron

    Steering box

I've seen a realize that and they all had loose nuts. Not sure how it happens though. You'd think the edges would get tore up before the middle. The output shaft is a harder metal than the pitman arm that's why the shaft isn't damaged. -Aaron

    Steering box

Nope. That little needle bearing can be replaced by itself. I can't remember if it was in the parts store catalog/computer or if I just gave them the number off the bearing when I replaced mine. Real cheap for the bearing. -Aaron

Ball joints and wheel hub discussion

I saw this is half an old thread, but suprised to see so many problems with MOOG's. I replaced mine (in my driveway) with MOOG's almost 7 years ago and about 130,000 miles ago and they are still doing great even with me being terrible about keeping them greased and having been submerged in mud...

    1 piece driveshaft

I know one of my good friends has a ccsb (but a 2002 7.3 truck) with a 6" lift and 37's and was looking to go with a one piece for all the usual reasons. He got with a well known driveshaft place and they advised against it (possibly for the reason above?). Instead they built him a two piece...

    Chasing Codes

I had another thread going about the problems I'm having with my truck, but wanted to take it in a bit different direction and get more specific so I'm starting another one. The quick background is I just did new injectors, UVCH's, studs, springs, etc. Since that work I have developed a random...

    Hiccup @ idle only

Yeah, figured out the MFD. Sorry, should have fixed that. Mine idles nothing like a stock OBS does. It's not smooth. It's not the knock or rattle that I am concerned with. It's the hiccup/miss/lope or whatever it is. -Aaron

    Hiccup @ idle only

If that ends up the case, then I'm ok with that. I was just always under the impression that 80% nozzles could be made to idle like stock and shouldn't smoke on startup except when really cold, as in...below freezing cold. That being said...I can't even tell listening to the videos that it...

    Hiccup @ idle only

These didn't seem to turn out too well to me, but maybe you guys can hear/see something I can't. This video is a "walk around" outside. The only spot that sounds like it shows the rough running is in the back by the trailer hitch, but it is pretty steadily running rough through the whole...

    Hiccup @ idle only

Thanks will do, I was trying not to bug you over the weekend. I'll send it probably a little later today. On that note, sorry my ignorance but what is MFD? I thought Manufacture Date, but that doesn't seem right in this situation. I'll see about doing this too, not sure how well the iphone...

    Hiccup @ idle only

Nope, wasn't those guys. Their reputation is FAR from good. I personally know of a few people that got injectors from Pensacola (because they were local) and seen the posts online. No way I'd take that chance. I was kind of avoiding the vendors names, but I suppose it won't really hurt as...

    Hiccup @ idle only

Back at it....I'm going to continue along in here since it's still the same problem. It has now been driven over 600 miles. Plenty of full throttle runs. I used both my Scangauge and AE to run the buzz test and cylinder contribution test. Results are as follows.... Buzz Test: P1668 IDM/PCM...

Yukon 3.73 performance R&P install. Help APPRECIATED!

Not sure what you have going on there if you are referring to the smaller pinion bearing. When I rebuilt my rear differential due to severe wear and impending failure on the pinion and carrier bearings (I caught mine just in time) I was able to reuse the factory gear set. It went right together...

    exhaust housing adapter questions

Hmm. Lots of interesting info. Now I wonder if my turbine housing is right or not. The were both advertised as a "1.15 van housing and high flow outlet" when I bought them iirc (and we know from above I may not). I don't remember it saying anything about a SD. I guess I didn't realize there...
