I would try low 3rd and let it shift to 4th. It has gained me a bunch over hi 1st. I have enough power to pull it so I know you do too. I'm still running 3.55's too. I never tried hi 2nd though,. Man if you can pull it your wheel speed will be tremendous!

Ive heard that 4th great is the weak point in the trans at least for stock, so guys with a stock one may not want to let the truck do this. I know yours is built so probably no big deal.

Pulled local fair last night. Strapped front end down and it made a ton of difference on how smooth it pulled. I beat the guy with the 800hp megacab dodge that has been stomping everybody, but some guy pulled a dodge last with supposedly efi live only and got me by 4 feet, lol

so it is prolly better for the stock guys to keep it in 3rd low or if they can hold it, 1st high?

Well, I agree I should have launched harder, but the problem is, that when sitting at the start I am holding the brake and trying to build boost. I build boost until the brakes will no longer hold it, then floor it and let off the brake. It has built 5 or 7 pounds by that point, but it still takes a few seconds for it to really light and max out the boost gauge. To do what you are saying is correct in my opinion, but I think I will have to have a converter with a higher stall to ever accomplish the tire spinning start I'd like to have.

oh dang. i thought it would have lit quicker than that. nothing else you can do then. except the converter or maybe a special tune..

At least on what I have read at least, one thing to think about is that most tunes the converter doesn't lock till 3rd though so 3rd 4low would probably be a lot of our best bets and feather it at the small end to keep it from shifting. I know your gonna loose speed but may keep stuff together a little longer. I doubt I will ever pull my truck to find any of this out because I know if I do it once I'll want to do it again and then Morgan and Jared get more of my money that I can't afford LOL
Only thing I got going for me is my pig usually can't make weight always with out pulling a bunch of sh!t out of it so it help keeps my want down
