If it were me and since you modding I'd get 225/100-150's it seems that when guys go to 190's and put 5 miles on the truck they then want to go larger. (Just a observation) if/ when I do injectors I hope there will be a few with people with the industrial injection hybrid bodies to see how they are holding up with fuel diloution and such. If they are doing good ill opt for 225's

Asked to Ellerton about them on his dually, and i believe he said he's got about 12K miles on those hybrid bodies with absolutly zero oil dilution.

I don't mean to derail here or anything but I have my 190/100s and am pretty much satisfied with them because to go any bigger means a rougher idling truck and I would want to fully build the motor at that point.

Can anyone give me a brief run down on how the hybrids work as oppose to traditional HPO injectors? Will that benefit my setup any?

Benefit your setup? maybe maybe not, depends how far you want to take it. Think about your goals with the truck and that will make the answer a little easier. Hybrids use less high pressure oil per injection event. So you're going to be able to run a much larger injector and not have as much loss of icp, this is good for those who want larger injectors not wanting dual oil pumps or high volume pumps. Only issue I see is the lower you go with injection pressure the more incomplete the burn (not in all cases). There are plenty of hybrid injector trucks that are animals, and with the latest technology, fuel dilution is a thing of the past, ive even thought about going this route too, not likely though, Im a fan of conventional injectors.

Ive had plenty of big injectors with plugged spill ports and they idle smooth as stock,

Really? I guess it depends who is building the injector. Mine idles okay with gearhead, truck source and wildman tuning, when oil temps get hot, you can still slightly hear and feel the stumble, but you get used to it, I dont even notice it really anymore. Any other tuning and it lopes when the oil temp gets hot.

sounds good to me, only time I ever hear any sort of stumble in the idle is if the oil temps are hot, like 190* usually and after i've been driving for a good amount of time. Whenever its cool, theres nothing and its perfectly smooth.

ah ok, ive just been hearing alot lately that anything larger than 190s idle bad and get annoying.

heck even the ranger idles smooth with 340s lol

Redracer: What injector are you running?

As for what I am looking to get out of my setup. For now it is just stock 6.4 charger and see what improvements it makes. Then I'd like to go with biggest injector I can while still being able to tow a heavily loaded trailer. Say a 15k lb goose @ worst case scenario. Typical towing of a 7k lb bumper pull.

If things play out right maybe I'll pick up one of those 71mm low pressure turbos and take it to the next level, preferably still being able to tow. I like to be practical about my truck, it is a truck no matter how I look at it. After all I purposely built my stack so it would not interfere with the function of my bed. I can still put as many sheets of plywood/drywall as will fit below my bed rails.

I hope you can figure the Vgt control out cause I would like to see it work out for you.

the turbine wheel on the low pressure turbo is a bit banged up... not sure if it is safe to use. Not sure how easy it will be to find the right size v-band clamp that is missing if it is usable.

Kurt, good to see you joined the army. Lots of good hearted and helpful people here.


On the thought of injectors; based off everyone's turbo/injector size, I am leaning toward 190/100's. With anything bigger the twins might clean up the fuel at the low end but I am afraid that they wont be able to keep up at the top end, if that makes sense. I would like to go with 205's (go big or go home right?), but again I want to keep the towability function.
