My truck was a towing monster with the 71. I loved it. Plus it would put you right in the middle of the power range you are looking for. Can't go wrong with that setup.

:whs: I love towing with the 71...good power, instant spool, low EGTs.

What's that break down to hourly?

even though everybody always says " i have the cab off in 1.5 hours" , it usually ends up being the better portion of a day start to finish depending on the work. i think it'll be about 7 hours total , so $90 an hour or close. i wanna say my trucks along with craig mike c and aaron take the top honors for cab off. id say my green truck has 20-30 times, and the silver truck 7 times since i bought it in july ;)

I have always been skeptical of guys saying it can be done that fast. I have never tried it so I kept my mouth shut. I have always wondered this and would like some input from the guys that have taken the cab off several times. have you ever ran into any complications from taking the cab off? Sounds like some guys have had problems with the cab bolts and nuts but is there anything else such as electrical connection pieces breaking, wires/hoses getting pinched, stuff just not working after the cab is back on? I know you have to know what you are doing when tackling a project like this but it is complications like this that keep me from wanting to try to tackle it my self. My fear would be I would get everything back together and the gauges don't work and I spend two days trying to diagnose the problem and never found it so I would have to take it or heaven forbid tow it to a shop to have them to lift the cab again only to find that one small electrical connection got damaged through the removal/re install process. A bunch of guys have said that Ford made it pretty easy to take the cab on and off but what is easy for some isn't as easy for others. Just looking for everyone's .02.

What kind of back pressure numbers are you seeing without a wastegate with the 71?

I have a hand shaker and my mods are in my sig. After 10 PSI of boost, she is a perfect 1:1 up to a point. Often when cruising at 70-80 MPH, EBP will be less than boost by about 1-2 (when boost is 12 to 20). I have only ran the H&S tunes so far which may be a factor, but when I get to around 2500 RPM at WOT on a program rated 250+ HP, my EBPs start rising quickly (up to 70 [actual EBP] at 3000 RPM) so I have to let off. 4th gear is the worst, 5th gear can be a problem, 6th gear no problems (I assume because of lower RPMs - I rarely run my truck much over 100 MPH). For example, last night 5th gear, H&S 300 HD with LBF on 1, I hit 68 EBP at WOT when I let off and had in the high 40s of boost, a little later in 6th gear at WOT I hit 54 PSI boost with 64 EBP when I let off due to speed. On 160 HP or less, no issues with EBP. I still haven't ever hit 1350 EGTs (my defuel setting) after 7500 miles including about 1k miles of towing between 10-16k climbing many grades of 6-7% for a few miles at a time. EBPs are not an issue for me towing which I assume because I don't run high HP tunes when towing and I almost never floor it towing.
