I'm def not touching my converter if it gets bad. I'd rather it slip then lockin with a good converter on other stock parts.

I have 64k studs, deleted, exhuast, H&S HD Tune, and the tranny seems like its starting to give, just not holding the power like before but it seems these stock trannys handle a fair amount of abuse besides the converters that like to splatter more than not, what would you guys say as far as doing a stock rebuild clutches ect. but doing an RCD or Suncoast converter and upgrading shafts and cooler possibly? I just don't have the money to do a full build yet?

my advice is to run the lowest tune and baby it for now and save up to get suncoast internals or elites internals and I recommend the RCD TC. Get your tranny rebuild done once instead of twice because if you get stock clutches you would have to get your trans rebuilt again which would be expensive. I got my transmission rebuilt at 62k I now have 84k and i have had no problems i have suncoast internals billet input shaft and billit lower reverse hub and RCD TC. :ford:

My stock transmission never made it past 55k an it was done put a Suncoast full billit and converter in it an have just over 70k on it now and its holding up just fine even with 3 stages of N.O.S and Elites HP turbos

I bought and tuned mine at 124k, have 140 on it now. Trans shifted like it was going to come up through the floor on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, and pretty bad on 34 and 4 to TC lock. Had me light footing it most of the time, with the exception of when a ricer d-bag wanted to cut me off or some moron wit a mid life crisis vet wanted to race. I usually light throttled it until 3rd then gave it hell.
Well, I finally got fed up with waiting on my buddies to get me the parts and just scavenged my Excursion and random pieces of steel around the shop and fabbed up some bars. Holy cow, what a difference. It is a whole new animal. I haven't really beat the piss out of it yet. But the shifts are way better.

Traction bars are the single best mods for these trucks imo.

ummm-mine didnt seem to last the test drive after the atmo turbo etc.

it insists on puking its guts out the breather and pan gasket anytime the temps get over 180*

only 80k stock miles on it-still shifts fine just makes a mess.

just the basics to my truck etween 55k-76k intake programmer and exhaust mostly running kem 310 or 345 tune, then at 76k i got the rest of the work done, cam valves springs egr delete etc, and now its at 86k and i have made 8 track passes since then, 4 or 5 pulls, and the trans is still holding good, think the converter might be the first to go
