Back to back, my gear head tune was faster at the track, and actually made more power on the Dyno than idp did. I like the drivability in my gear head tunes better than my idp tunes fwiw

I've ran both. I prefer idp. my gearhead race felt slower on bottom end than my IDP xrace and xtreme x. shifting on the xtreme x is a dream, I have the old xtreme race and run race lock so it shifts real firm, and gearhead race, my truck never acted right with the tranny file and I have it plenty of time.

Eric and matt both have amazing customer service though. I still switch back and forth occasionally. they're both leaps and bounds ahead of the 345 and HD300

Ill tell ya what, just from researching other threads and reading this one... it seems to be you cant go wrong with either one really. I just sent out my TSX today to get unlocked by SCT, hopefully ill have it back faster then 7-10 days (like they told me) considering they are only 2 hours north of me here in FL.

When im buying custom tunes from Innovative, am i going to have to send them my TSX to put their tunes on it? Ive read if you send them your tuner that the file they load up is actually a better file with more HP? Is that how matt from gearhead does it as well?

Heres another question for you guys... I know with my dash daq, i couldnt update or download the emailed tunes i got becuase i use apple computers. Im assuming this is the same thing for SCT and dowloading tunes from Innovative and Gearhead... PC only?

ya pc only unless your a mac guru i guess

yes they are emailed and u need sct software to upload

I have never heard of sending a tuner to the tune writer for better results

specially if u need fine tuning they will tweak via email files ,, got somone you can mooch a pc off of ?

To everyone that says that my race file doesn't have as much low end. Has someone actually run the two different files with a boosted launch and compared?

My 345 tune felt like it had more bottom end then your race tune. But when I went to the track my race tune went 12.91 and my 345 went 13.24. I think it's all in how the pedal feels. But it was obvious it made more power.

:whs:. i think people mistake pedal sensitivity and low boost fueling for "low end" power.

I vote IDP because Eric has been great to me. Tweaking files to how I like them, writing single tunes, even go some sweet IDP bling lol. But from what everyone is saying Matt's race tune it sounds veru similiar to IDP extreme x. Low/no smoke, no touchy pedal, smooth shifting. The extreme x makes 40 more hp than the extreme race. But everyone says the race is stronger, could be another touchy pedal = power scenario.

The 310 has more "low end" because its much more sensitive. That's what I HATED about that tune. I like how the IDP and Gearhead tunes come out of a redlight better, it doesn't make you look like an idiot going through parking lots and hitting a bump either.

Eric has stated that himself there may be a few more ponies in the preloaded vs emailed 6.4 wise. Cant speak for the x3 and stuff 6.0 wise. The only reason Im running IDP right now is because of the quiteness of the tune (extreme street) and the fuel mileage is better that the gearhead ON MY TRUCK. The gearhead and Eric's extreme X both get about the same fuel mileage on my truck. I have also noticed they (gearhead and IDP extreme X) both have higher boost at cruising speeds and also you can really tell when the pilot injection turns off on both of them vs the other tunes

from my understanding the pedal sensitivity has nothing to do with low end power. the throttles electronically controlled and is set via the tuner(gh,idp, spartan ect) when and how the power comes on

I've boosted launched all my files in 4wd. my statement still stands.

but I have to say. Matt's files didn't make my truck buck when offroad or on a bumpy street. LOL.

again. not that either tune is a ton better than the other. I just prefer the idp tunes for my driving style. different strokes for different folks. Both are great dudes.

Its more like the reason why its so sensitive is because it has a lot of low boost fueling and timing. It is controlled through the tune. Matts tunes bring it all on gradually instead of bringing it in right away like a lot of other tuners do, but it goes a lot deeper than just fuel and timing. Erics tunes have gotten a lot better, this is why eric recommends extreme x for the street because it dives like a street tune but has the power of a race tune. Every truck is different and some trucks will make just as much power on email tunes as they will in the pre loaded. I'd rather have email tunes, having to send in a tuner is such a hassle.

I just got Eric's extreme x tune and I think it's my favorite tune to date. Drives like a stock truck and has the power of a race tune. I'm still gonna mess around with the transmission settings on my livewire to see which I like best. I loved Matt's tunes for a dd but like others said the wot shifting wasn't that great.

That just goes to show you how different each truck reacts with different files, i swear by matts trans tuning. Are you allowing for the proper relearn time?

I know that lol. I just know some people think it feels like it has more low end.
