It could just be that the coolant level was too high, but it has the revised sticker so I don't know.

Ya never know what the place did were he bought it.. They may have topped it off  with something other than Gold as well..

Could be the previous owner had the same issue and it was the reason for selling it and the place cleaned the motor.. IDK...

Welp. Loss of power on the way home. Thought it was a boost leak, turns out it went full retard already. Hopefully it's just the EGR. What's my next step?

Like I told ya there hit and miss...probably 75% of the time guys trade these trucks in due to issues...

You're at the point you've got 3 options...

1 if you've got a warranty...USE IT.

2 If no warranty....stud and delete it...

3 If your state has some variation of a 'lemon law' you may be able to use it here to your advantage.

These issues are to be expected with an unstudded and non deleted truck.

Yea no warranty. Guess ill be making some calls on Thursday. I have a neuroanatomy exam Wednesday that will keep me busy studying till then.

What all should I do? I want to completely bulletproof it. Anything I could do to add some fun in expensively? I was kind of planning to add some power when I did cab off but not really sure anymore. Definitely don't have the funds for a trans on top of it all

studs, delete, coolant filter kit, tuner, direct drive solenoid, no limit cold side, intake and exhaust. Drive it like you stole it

Do you have a bulletproofing kit/package? That seems like the best deal, but they all come w/ the sinister stuff, and I'd rather your coolant filter and delete.

Can anyone recommend certain components to go with? Also I know there are a few sponsors who have shops near the RVA area, would you all mind shooting me a PM with labor costs and time frames?

Thanks

Seeing the quality/reviews I'd get Steve's EGR delete and coolant filter, OEM oil cooler and gaskets, ARPs and the OEM upgraded(STC fittings, blue spring, etc). How far are you going into this? Just a typical bulletproof? Or mods too, like injectors and/or turbo?

I have enough in the bank right now to do whatever I want, but that being said I want to reserve as much as possible to pay for tuition next year. interest rates are really high so I want to keep the amount I have to borrow as low as possible.

I also want a fun set up to drive though, so if I could pull off something fairly affordable and fun i'd probably be for it. Don't really want to put a trans in it yet though

As you can see, i'm torn lol

Figure 5k for studs and the basic work if you DO NOT do it yourself..obviously if you do it yourself it'll be cheaper...

IF you opt to do a turbo and injectors and maybe a fuel system at the same time, add another 5k ish.

Yea I'll just do basic and studs then, can't spend that much on the truck right now. And I don't have the knowledge or the time to do it myself right now unfortunately.

You said you were in Va right?

Making power gets expensive. Figure a powermax and 175/75...that's 3 grand in just parts. Fuel system another 1200-1500.

I guess i'll just wait, if I'm going to drop that much I would probably want to be at 600hp. Maybe in a few years

Yea, I almost cried when I saw the price of injectors lol. WHEN I get a truck, it's gonna keep stock injectors til they die.

I think the basics, exhaust and a good tune will keep you entertained for a while though.

600hp will run a little more because you're all but guaranteed to need a transmission of you're the least bit hard on the truck. Why have a 600hp build if you're not gonna use it?
