made some decent progress saturday. Frame work is completely done. I made backing plates from sections of another '08 frame we're getting ready to send to the scrap yard. I'm sure Anthony has pics of the backing plates somewhere. all 6 of the grade 8 spring mount bracket bolts on each side pass through the reinforcement plate, as well as it being stitch and plug welded in place. Pretty safe to say the joints are some of the strongest points in the frame now.
Here's the tank now that it's been re-powdercoated. Looks to be about 20 gallon capacity to my untrained eye, but I'm sure we'll know soon enough. with all the fueling mods done, I'm sure that will disqualify it from road-tripping:fustrate:
New driveline built with 1480 series joints. truck's starting life this round with 4.56's, and detroit lockers front and back, so it's definitely been well balanced, and built to last. With the taller proxes and 22's, that puts top speed at roughly 140 mph on the 5000 rpm limiter.
hydraulic line has been shortened, and double flared. got brakes now. Here's the shortened harness just before it was wrapped. all connections staggered, non insulated butt connectors were soldered, then heat-shrink wrapped before the loom was re-done. Don't plan on needing to do the wiring again... ever.
Here's the completed version of brakes and wiring before the tank was installed.
