Let me preface this thread by acknowledging that I'm very aware that this project is not near as invasive as the majority within this sub-forum, but I hope some of you will still find it interesting and, perhaps, spark some future ideas.
I posted a similar thread on the Org, but I posted with several updates. Since I'm done with the project now, y'all can see all of the progress. I was looking for a way to color match my bumpers but didn't have the ability to have 4+ days of down time to get the bumpers powdercoated or painted, and I was hoping to step out and do something different.
I ordered a vinyl sample booklet from 3M and ran through the color cards to determine which would suit my truck the best. Here are some before, during and after photos.
Before photos:
3M Gloss Charcoal Metallic color card:
Next to a Pueblo Gold '10 Bumper:
Vinyl roll delivered to the house:
Wrapping the bumper in the kitchen:
Bumper and small bed piece done:
More of the bed complete:
Bottom half of bumper and front fender flare done:
Removed the grille and headlights to access the upper bumper piece (note the top is not done in this picture, but the sunlight makes it hard to tell):
Whole bumper done. Sprayed black PlastiDip in between the top and bottom half to add some contrast:
Once I received my knifeless tape in the mail, I was able to finish the doors:
I'll be painting the bumper pad, bed rail caps and tailgate cap with Krylon Fusion in Black Satin. The color definitely changes depending on the amount and direction of light that shines on the vinyl. Let me know what y'all think!
