    spoke with the tech and he said its not the HPFP as it is putting out 25,000psi (max pressure while cranking). That's got to be a bad fuel rail pressure sensor, right?

    Yep 6.4, I did the filters about 5 months ago. Never had a reason to try this before but currently with the water step drain open and the pump running nothing comes out, however as soon as the pump stops cycling fuel starts to run out of the nipple.

    Forgot to mention its got about 140k on it and has been the most trouble free truck Ive owned thus for. Last year it made two trips from San Diego to New York hauling a load without so much as a hiccup. Its gets new oil every 3-5k and new fuel filters every other oil change.

    Holy chit, a guy with a 6.0 is scared of reliability issues of a 6.4? :doh: Its the 6.0 that made me get a 6.4. The OP wants to do preventative maintenance, but if your gonna double a trucks HP with minimal mods (300hp+ tunes) you should probably expect the break some stuff.

    Theres always gonna be something better, its much better to want what you have instead of always trying to get yourself in debt with the latest and greatest. Besides these trucks do exactly the same thing, your in fact opting for a slightly less powerful potential engine.

    I notice that higher RPM causes increases an increase in oil temps as well, perhaps indicating additional stress on oil at anything above 2,000 rpm

    I noticed going through Arizona that the oil temps are much more reactive than my coolant temps. I don't know how a truck could be harder on its iol than a 7.3 (since it basically uses the oil as hydraulic fluid as well as a lubricant). What is the highest oil temp you've seen on the 6.4?
