Like the title says.. Cold start no noises, once its ran for a minute or two it starts to sound like rocks caught in a blender. Thought is was a torque converter or cracked flex plate. replaced those and boy was I wrong! P2563 code now, and figure its the vanes hitting the turbine wheel...

So, what I thought was a torque converter going south is actually my HP turbo failing. Sounds like the vanes are hitting once she warms up a little. Not to open a can of worms, but is it worth going to an upgraded HP over stock given that I have no plans of adding fuel in the future. I am (was)...

So, 3500km on new build (signature) I'm at idle and notice what sounds like a marble in a can. Sounds like its coming from the bell housing. Thinking the crank spacer that the machine shop removed and then re-mounted has shifted and cracked the flex plate or something of the sort... Truck runs...

Hey guys, I have a set of used standard pistons from my 08 6.4. Tore my block down as I thought I had a cracked piston, turned out to be cracked rings. Anyhow I went with 0.030" over de-lipped and have these if someone needs them. Good for someone who wants to try de-lipping? Hit me with an offer

For those of you that have had the heads off, how many alignment dowels are in each head? Manual says 2, kit shipped 2, but it looks like my block, cylinder head and gaskets all have the provisions to accept 3? Am I missing something? Just want to be sure before, thanks.

Thoughts on reusing the existing camshaft? Truck had 160,000 miles on it. Cam looks great, replacing lifters and pushrods (stock). Just want to know what the general feeling is on reinstalling the stock cam. Mild build, not looking for huge HP.

How are you all indexing the rings on the pistons? Ready to install mine and thought I would ask what the train of thought is on this. thanks all

Well, just got all my stuff back from the machine shop and noticed that they pulled the spacer off the back of the crank:doh:.....how bad is this going to end up? Can I install it and put a dial gauge on to check run out or.... Let me know from those who have been here.

OK, real world stories how much can you take off the stock (6.4) heads? I've read all there is on the 6.0, but that's not what I'm building. What is the factory piston to valve clearance? I should add that my block has not been decked. Thanks in advance

My cracked piston turned out to be both rings on #2, top ring on #5 and top ring on #8...I suppose that's why it smoked so much. New pistons on the list among a few other things, may as well its all apart now!
