650 dash, putting In a fuel pressure gauge, oil/coolant gauge (toggle-able), and some switches: high idle, oil/coolant toggle, horn, compressor, TC lock, etc.

Bump. I just spent two hours reading through all this, and soaking it in. I have always wanted to do this. 3k wouldnt be bad for a kit, assuming the power was available. Might have to buy you a plane ticket and have you assist. Any new updates?

I hope you whoop this project

Not much to update right now, I am far too busy with work since the hurricane hit us. I will likely be commencing the project a week or two after Easter. I have not yet had the ability to finish the VGT actuation so I wil likely be running a boost actuated setup or a half way "fixed" setup temporarily till I finish the electronics.

The E-Series harness showed up today thanks to member F-250-Owner. Unfortunately I wont have time to get to work on this for a few weeks. I plan to get started on the build the first weekend of April though, do or die.

OK Fella's,
I am stumbling and need some guidance again.

I have decided to build my own injectors, my goal is to build them (un-shimmed) to 190cc's then having a shim ready made to bump them to roughly 205CC's (still all to be confirmed by much calculation). Knowing me, I may start with 205 and back down to 190 if I feel necessary. I will be ordering 75% nozzles for those soon, I also hope to send the injectors out to be flow tested before installation.

The stumble: I have put together a fuel system that I would like to install at the same time as the build, however I do not want to eat into my build "slush fund." The fuel system (sump, pump, lines, RR, ETC.) comes to just over $1000. I don't see adding a upgraded fuel system will throw my baseline #'s off with the turbo setup. On the other hand, could/should I wait till I am ready to put in the built injectors? Most of the top accessories (including the turbo's) will need to be removed to gain access to injectors anyhow. Will this be a good time to install fuel system as well?

Oh yeah, finally going to dive into the build next week (the 8th) or maybe the following week (the 15th). Its like an itch that you cant scratch.

I would at least do the regulated return if you're putting built injectors in. It is wonderful peace of mind, because you can't monitor how much fuel is getting to those rear injectors. So if pressure drop is 5-10psi from your fuel bowl, imagine the drop at the rear cylinders. RR and a healthy stock pump should last you awhile with something like a 190/75. Want to protect those expensive injectors

I have a feeling the drop is far more substantial than that... I can drop pressure down to 25psi on a mild street tune with stock sticks behind the heads.... stock fuel system, custom SCT tunes. Just moved my sender to my fuel bowl to compare. I believe I also have a separate fuel sender coming in from an outside source to do more testing to prove this theory. Going to either run this one gauge on a toggle switch, or just get two gauges.

So if I am interpreting correctly, it sounds like maybe just adding a RR to the stock system maybe be sufficient enough? I have not thought about how to do it yet, but can I remove the poppet valve, through-feed the heads, and retain the fuel bowl?

I've run into another hiccup, I was under the impression I would have assistance with this build including: welding, lift, shop etc. Which has completely fallen though. He did not have a spool gun to weld aluminum, so I was planning on taking my intake piping else where. I have a garbage Flux Core MIG welder that just is not going to cut the cheese for any of this build. Does any one have a suggestion for a WELL priced unit that also comes with a spool gun? Since I will have to do the welding myself I might as well do the aluminum.

I am very tempted given the great reviews of this unit: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200485145_200485145 It has a SWEET price and looks to be a very flexible unit.

I hope to keep the build on schedule.

With all due respect guys, before you ask you he is doing this and voice your opinion in a negative fashion, read the first fifteen pages of this thread. He is determined to do this. Whether you tell him he is an idiot or congratulate him on figuring this out, hes gonna do it. If he figures this out, he will be a pioneer, and might just open a whole new door for 6.0 performance. I for one am excited to see what this project can produce as far as power gains.

This is an open forum, you are free to express your opinion, but as a "diesel enthusiast" you should at the very least be curious and encouraging.

Update:
The turbo's oil drain fittings are being made up at a local machine shop. Hopefully things will be winding down soon and I will be able to dig into the truck soon. Till the truck goes down completely I will spend a weekend relocating the FICM, and another fabing some preliminary intake piping and some of other odds and ends with the up pipes (drive pressure and pryo bungs).
