By running, I do mean just that, running.

I still have to work out the controller for the VGT actuation. I will probably temporarily lock the VGT in a fixed position or rig a waste gate actuator until I hash out the electronics.

I just got out of the shower at 1:30AM after working on the oil drainage plumbing. I have 90% of that complete and will finish it up tomorrow after I put the manifold and turbo's back in the truck.

Thanks for the support guys, I'll post some more photo's tomorrow.

A 6.4 with a single turbo is probably my favorite sounding diesel. Sorry for derail.

OK, so the oil drain tubes are officially the hardest part of this project now..... I am still working on sealing them up tight but ran out of argon gas.

Not looking like I will be completed this weekend, Should be close though.

I had thought of that, but how do you attach them to the turbo's? These turbo's have the same setup as the stock 6.0 drain line.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find a fitting with the o-ring end and threaded on the other. Or just make it. That would take be a lot loss likely to crack and leak.

couldn't you take those ends you have, weld a clean piece of pipe to it ( reduce it down if needed) and thread the outside? Then its just fittings, y them together from the turbos and run the the third threaded piece and into the drain.

Edit: from a quick Google search for "o-ring turbo drain" something like this.

It's amazing how I searched for hours for a simple solution like that and turn up nothing. Then someone else does the same and PRESTO!! My only concern is that I would have to drill and tap the bolt for those fittings to work, which worried me because I have no idea what is on the inside of the turbo there.

Doug is basically telling me that the turbo actuation this isn't that complicated...

I tried explaining my understanding (although probably a limited understanding) of differences between the 6.0 and 6.4 turbo actuation and was basically told I was an idiot. (Not verbatim, but you know Doug's charm).

12v = 12v. Hook it up and see which way the actuator arm moves etc....

Wish he would just reply here... Doug, if you read this... feel free to help out!

Is this what you're referring to?

Cause the power source to the actuator doesn't matter as long as its 12v. As you can see the same wire powers several things. The problem is the actuator gets its information thru a CAN communication. You don't just add 12v to tell it what to do.

Yes, exactly. It's over my head. I think I even said that on like page 2 of this thread, but Doug felt the need to try and beat it into my head LOL.

Someone who fully understands it should relay the info along to Doug.

The 6.4 actuator has a miniature computer in it which decodes 1's and 0's (binary) and turns it into a voltage signal which it sends to a 3 phase stepper motor. They over did these things......

Still learning how to tig, so save the comments for someone else who gives a chit :flipa:

I am waiting on a few parts so I will not be getting this running this weekend, but hopefully mid/late next week. I just need exhaust manifold gaskets up pipe gaskets, and the coolant re-route tube which is on its way from Absolute.
