decided to cut the cross member, deff don't have the funds right now for another motor so i am stuck

pulling the motor out (for me) is 10X harder then cutting and re-welding a cross member

Could you please elaborate on why you feel it would be easier to cut the cross member instead if pulling it?

Laying on your back, under the truck, in an awkward position to replace the piston.. sounds like fun.

Pull the engine..

The exhaust valves and intake valves are different...

Pull the engine would be less work. Do yo up plan on keeping the pickup for life?? I would never buy a pickup that has had the cross member cut off the welded back on.. Even if it was done good. Just for the fact it would tell me the owner or who ever worked on it did not really care...

whats a better option, getting a motor from a junkyard or online/craigslist?

We are at the point that he is going to do his own thing, I hope it works out for him but fear it wont. Good luck, you will need it.

If you are such a good fabricator why don't you just weld up a gantry and hook a damn chain hoist to it. I kinda feel bad for you in a way because you are going the hard route here on a relatively simple procedure.
