No when I pulled out the injectors none of them looked like that. This all started because I pulled the injectors to replace the injector cups, then when all done I reinstalled the injectors and all good till a few days later it started to smoke raw fuel. I have a post about it called smokey psd. Anyways a couple of guys figured I didn't seat the injectors and burned a lower oring and fuel was leaking in. That was not the case and that started me thinking. The copper orings were all good and the rubber orings were also good. Injectors have 270,000 miles so figured stuck nozzle. So I bought the tool for 35.00 bucks from amazon and thought I would try it. Just wanted your guys opinions.

E Series are gravy... Straight out of school and at my first(current) gig doing this for a living I was tossed into a sea of E-series 6.0's...

I dont know of many people who hit them.. when they do they end up like the one i posted, or they just tap the solenoid bolts, not the solenoid itself... but I doubt youll harm it...

4 years... and just a not well known tech school in Connecticut that got bought out by a Lincoln tech... I carried almost nothing over from the course to the Powerstroke world. I have also had quite a few ADS classes in Vegas and Wisconsin

Would love to do what you do. A little old to be going and changing a career now. But dang diesels are cool.

So far you are the only guy who does what I did and I didn't see what I did was wrong. Tapping an injector on the solenoid just seems questionable to me. Alot of people may do it but I don't want to call Full Force and (hey my truck won't run right).

CTC is the hold down bolt that crushes the copper oring? An old friend told me that the copper oring only seals off the opening til start up and after that carbons seals it. International mechanic back in the day.

yes, final torque is what seals the copper.. if you remove a perfectly seated injector, meaning perfect torque, perfect cup cleanliness, you shouldnt see any trace of carbon except on the nozzle/copper shoulder
