theres no reason to do that.. leave everything plugged in and just cycle 6 times, with 15 seconds of rest inbetween key ons, this will let any air rise..

this time, clean the injectors bores out. I use BG carbon cleaner on a rag and a screwdriver. make sure they are dry as a bone and spotless... lube the new o-rings, install like I said to, recheck their depth with a straight edge...

What BG stand for? Have you ever used petroleum jelly for lube? used all the time in transmissions. And if one injector is high what do I do?

SORRY, Ran smooth from the get go. Didn't just fire. Took 4 or 5 sessions of cranking to get started. But then no problems.

ok than it sounds like you didnt have air.. but its still a vital time for injectors, start up is pretty harsh on them if air is not bled out completely.. I think it was just time for a set..

Shop vac necked down to a small hose stuck in the gp hole. Then hand rotate the crank and blow rest out. Does Antifreeze from changing the cups leave a nice mess on the valve covers? May have left this out too.

There was a nice goo on the valve covers this time and thats all I can figure. Oil looks good and the rest of the head looks good as well. Just a sludgy goo on the valve covers. Figured it happened when I blew out the antifreeze from the gp hole last time and didn't remove it good enough.

4 years... and just a not well known tech school in Connecticut that got bought out by a Lincoln tech... I carried almost nothing over from the course to the Powerstroke world. I have also had quite a few ADS classes in Vegas and Wisconsin

It's ok. I went to UTI. School doesn't make the tech. The tech makes the most out of the school.

So far you are the only guy who does what I did and I didn't see what I did was wrong. Tapping an injector on the solenoid just seems questionable to me. Alot of people may do it but I don't want to call Full Force and (hey my truck won't run right).

A lot of people tell you to because it works, 100% of the time. Your not swinging the hammer like your trying to sink a 16 in two. Just a tap tap... Then TQ to spec and lay a straight edge across the top. Done and done.

Its not fricking brain surgery, no matter what some people tell you, installing a set of PSD injectors is about as easy as changing a set of spark plugs.

Thats a super good idea. Will be doing that on the new ones. No I didn't. :lame: I did however crank it over with the wiring on top of the drivers valve cover disconnected though. Not good enough?

How to remove air before firing truck...

Install injectors (just lube them with some damn 15-40 for crying out loud)...

TQ to spec...

Button everything back up...

Turn the key to the run pos... wait until the fuel pump turns off. Do this 4-5 times or until you have steady fuel pressure (assuming you have a gauge...)

Next... Crank the damn truck... The injectors will not even try to fire until there is 500psi of ICP pressure, so there not dry firing or anything that will damage the damn injector.

For crying out loud.

I installed Riff Raff regulated return and thought that would take care of any air that might get near the nozzles.:redspotdance::redspotdance:

Your nozzles were fine unless there was something wrong with them in the build. Nothing you did or could have done would damage the nozzle at that point.

And someone please tell me where this "hung nozzle" crap came from... Are we driving CR truck now or what?

Csipsd I hold you i pretty high regard on injectors and thanks. I do 16's in one smack by the way not two. And the stuck nozzle idea was because I think I could of had a piece of lint from cleaning out the locktite from the cup install. I checked the cups over the weekend and they are all the same height. Got My optilube today and my pcm tomorrow and injectors on wed. Will have it going soon I hope.
