Nate, do you know if a cts with on the fly canned tunes will communacate with the tcm?
What I was gettin at is what dave said. Shift on the fly usually means a glorified 10k resistor mod. Meaning the computer is only altered by altering sensor reading such as tempratues and pressure. The tuning is based on the altered readings on stock trucks so with your mods you gamble on if the parameters that are altered will work. It could be slower, not run as well, blow up or be perfect.Hypertext mach 7 does and will not communicate to the TCM. Well that's what a tech named Ron at hypertec told me. I'm going to talk to bill at PHP about it sense he seems to be the man that would know how there accually doing it so I'll know how unsafe it is timing wise.
the main thing im trying to get away from is always retuning the tranny every time i want a different power level. if the sct had a choice of tuning the engine, tuning the tranny, or both at the same time like it does i would not even thought of doing this. i HATE haveing to force a relearn a couple of days before i want to pull my boat on a fishing trip, or go to the track, ect..
Sorry. You said that. I read it a couple days ago and forgot. My bad. Can you run a pcs controller with the 5r100? That could be another option. Would save tuning time not writing the tranny tune as well.

Yea Matt sorry I dont know more man about the Evolution CTS. Best of luck with the Hypermax Mach 7, I hope it does what you are looking for.
no pcs does not support the 5r110, i wish it did that would be the ldeal thing instead trying to stack tuners, im gonna see if i can do what they say cant be done, i will be sure to post my results wither im right or wrong.
PCS will work with a 5r...i know of at least one shop that currently has a PCS'd 5r
What is the reason we can't use that SCT/superchips five position chip again?
I personally don't see a relearn issue when I swap between custom tunes
say SRL and Matt's Tow tune ,, I don't return to stock when doing that ,,
I do feel the relearn any time I do go to stock and then load a tune ,, like if I were updating the SCT or trying another vendors tunes ( I just play it safe when swapping between vendors and Go back to stock)
I absolutely Loved My edge juice with attitude and switching on the fly ,, plus in the deep menus you could adjust all kinds of stuff and I know you could add fuel because it could be made to smoke profusely.. unfortunately it now sits in a drawer.
I like this topic good job .. and maybe we will all need on the fly tuners in the future ?
did u see the thread pulled over and plugged into the OBD port to check for programing??
