    Fail safe is 4th gear if trans has no power to it this is what will happen. You can check for 12v at pin 12 red with yellow tracer. Solenoid connector in known to get corroded as well.

    Contamination in the add on cooler can cause all sorts of problems it's never good to have metal or clutch going through a fresh trans. It also could be misaligned tcc bushing in the pump. Did you try stock tunes?

    Either replace the solenoid or get a modified. You may also want to check line pressure to see if it is in spec. Did you check for pressure regulator valve bore wear bad bore can cause very erratic pressure. How did direct air check.
